BASIC FUNCTION

To lead a specifications team in thorough selection of materials suitability on various projects considering the firm’s criteria of choosing materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre-Design Phase
– Assists in coordinating with various material suppliers for scheduling and facilitation of product presentation in the office.
– Requests material samples or swatches and material quotations from the suppliers.
– Attends periodic client meetings as requested for full engagement and assessment of project information with supervision from the Immediate Supervisor.
  • Schematic Phase
– Provides assistance to design team/s in determining material selection and its appropriateness in the project through product research and sourcing.
– Assists in preparing the preliminary specifications of the project as the result of the preliminary design conceptualization with the design team.
– Prepares material board of the project for presentation or as requested.
  • Schematic Phase
– Prepares the schematic design and plan of the project based from meeting the client and initial design proposal review and approval.
– Provides other supplemental drawings and documents like material boards and perspectives as needed for presentation and approval of the final schematic design.
  • Design Development Phase
– Assists in preparing specification and technical descriptions as per review of construction drawings and other files involving the project, or as needed.
– Provides assistance in presenting solutions to specification conflicts during construction as per instructed by the Immediate Supervisor or as needed.
– Attends periodic site meetings as requested for full assessment and assurance of proper coordination of specifications with supervision from the Immediate Supervisor.
– Assists in preparing and developing master specifications including specialized content for project type or regional conditions and other sustainable content.
– Assists in preparing other documents like budgetary estimate for permit approval, schedule of finishes for client’s perusal, and production of specification copies for submittal.
  • Others
– Any other duties and responsibilities as instructed by the Immediate Supervisor and/or to attain the organizational goals.
– Maintains materials brand inventory and suppliers contacts database for future references.
– Keeps back up records of any files and documents involving the project specifications.
– Provides assistance to business planning and development team in facilitating external exhibitions involving the firm.

JOB QUALIFICATION

Candidates must possess the ff:

– Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and/or any other related fields.
If undergraduate, either at least have undergone equivalent training/s and/or modules.
– Preferably fresh graduates, but any work experience in material selection for small typologies is a plus.
– Must have working knowledge about the utility and background of wide-scale materials used in architecture and interior design.
– Familiar with the systems and processes of an architecture firm including reading architectural plans and designs, building code, and other regulatory requirements as they relate to the project.
– Must have a strong background in utilizing various softwares in architecture especially with autocad, sketch-up, and photoshop. Any additional softwares expertise is a plus.
– Knowledgeable with microsoft offices especially word, excel, and presentations.
– Must be willing to learn, can easily adapt to change, keen to details, and can work with minimal supervision.
